CHELMSFORD Cricket Club continued their perfect start to the SNEL Premier Division season with a seven-wicket victory over Shenfield.

Dan Hagen (71 not out) and Ben Clifford (84) steered Chelmsford home, after bowling out Shenfield for 200 having put them into bat first.

Anthony Hill starred with the ball, dispatching the opening four batsmen and finishing with figures of 4-27 from his 10 overs, including four maidens.

Sam Cook (3-29) was the other star with the ball.

Chelmsford emerged as favourites to surpass the total, although they made an unsteady start.

James Gruijters (nine) and Bradley Green (zero) departed early to leave Southend on 28-2 but another 138 runs were put on before the fall of the next wicket - Clifford smashing 84 off 113 deliveries.

The 2s were five-wicket winners against Colchester & East Essex, with the home team putting Colchester into bat first.

Liam Kearey (3-46) and Robert Hayto (3-33) were the chief wicket-takers as the away team were left on 177-8 after 50 overs.

The runs were shared as Chelmsford surpassed the target with 6.1 overs remaining.

Keaney’s 55 was the best offering.

The 3s were beaten by Billericay, who triumphed by three wickets.

Chelmsford closed on 182-8, David Goddard (70) and Azaz Khalil (52) impressing while others fell cheaply.

But Billericay were comfortable in their response, only needed 38.1 overs to take the win with Anand Patil’s 90 hugely impressive.

The 4s lost by 117 runs against Hutton.
