A HERCULEAN effort from Dave Goddard ensured Chelmsford fielded eight teams from Friday to Sunday, claiming an impressive six victories.

The first team enjoyed a good win over Hornchurch at Chelmer Park in the Shepherd Neame Premier Division.

There were six wickets for James Clifford and three for Anthony Hill as Hornchurch were dismissed for 211.

James’ brother Ben was the star with the bat, ending on 83 not out as the total was chased down for the loss of just four wickets. There was also a 50 for Dan Hagen.

The second team won at Wanstead although suffered a collapse, going from 158-2 to 201 all out.

Rob Hayto had made 71 for Chelmsford, and soon took four wickets to go along with his runs and opening bowler Sean Sullivan took the last four wickets, all clean bowled, to go along with his earlier wicket at the top of the innings, finishing with 5-30.

The third team’s game was over by half past three. Four wickets for Sheraz Shahid and three for Rory Skepelhorn saw Hutton dismissed for just 77. The target of 78 was attained for the loss of just one wicket, Ed Cole (38 not out) and Jordan Campion (30 not out) doing the work.

Andrew Rycroft’s good form continued as he plundered 105 not out for the 4s against Southend.

Tom Iliffe (55 not out) helped Chelmsford to 234-3 before four wickets for Abdul Baig, and three for brother Mohammed and James Burns saw Southend out for 144.

The 5s were beaten by Billericay, the Sunday team won at Goresbrook and the Sunday 2s match was abandoned due to rain.

Chelmsford beat Billericay in a T20 match, Dan Hagen 82 not out.
