CONCORD Rangers skipper James White hailed his side’s fighting spirit after they held high-flying Chelmsford City to a 2-2 draw at the Aspect Arena on Saturday.

In front of a crowd of close to 900, two goals from Sam Collins saw the Beach Boys earn a share of the spoils against the second placed Clarets.

And White was happy with Concord’s improved home display.

“Our home form hasn’t been the best so far this season but this was much better and we fought really hard against a team who are right up towards the top,” said White.

“If we can keep on playing like that then we’re definitely going to move up the table but we’re going to have to keep on performing at this level now.”

Concord handed debuts to new signings goalkeeper Tom Miles and defender Cameron Norman while left back Ben Wyatt was selected among the substitutes.

And the new look side went in front after nine minutes when Jordan Chiedozie teed up Collins to slot the ball home.

Chelmsford equalised within nine minutes when Robbie Willmott scored from the edge of the penalty area before the Clarets went in front with Shaun Jeffers scoring from the spot.

But Concord fought back to claim a point in the 75th minute when Collins netted with a screaming long range free-kick The point keeps Concord second from bottom in the table.
