Sunday saw Chelmsford’s first team won the Dukes Twenty20 competition for the first time to go alongside their league title win from last season.

Shenfield won the toss and chose to bat in the semi-final and s disciplined bowling and field ing effort from Chelmsford saw them restrict Shenfield to 128, James Clifford (two for 18) with the best of the economy rates and Sheraz Shahid (three for 28) claiming the most wickets. Jack Sterland made 81 not out as Chelmsford won by seven wickets.

Brentwood had celebrated their semi-final win over Colchester enthusiastically but having been inserted by Chelmsford in the final, immediately ran into difficulties.

Aaron West holed out to Miles Clark from the first ball of the innings off of James Clifford’s bowling, and a couple of run outs did not help matters.

Clifford finished with three for 18 and Tom Halsey two for 21 as Brentwood totalled just 92.

Jack Sterland gathered his second unbeaten half-century of the day, 66 not out this time, as this total was chased down by 10 wickets. They now go into a T20 Area finals day, comprised of the winners of T20 competitions from other nearby leagues.
