JAKE Reid and Max Cornhill maintained Chelmsford City’s unbeaten pre-season friendly programme by scoring in the Clarets’ 2-0 win over a West Ham United XI.
Rod Stringer’s team faced a Hammers XI that included Michail Antonio and new signing Ashley Fletcher.
West Ham created the better chances of the first half and changed their outfield players for the second half.
Stringer made 11 changes just after the hour and saw striker Reid take the lead in the 70th minute, beating the goalkeeper to a flick on and scoring into an empty net.
A Chelmsford trialist missed the chance to double the advantage from the penalty spot but Cornhill scored with a half volley from 25 yards in the 88th minute.
City’s return to the Melbourne Stadium on Saturday to host Colchester United at 3pm, before taking on Southend United next Wednesday at 7.45pm.
