Boxing: O’Doherty’s Essex champ
CHELMSFORD ABC boxer Louie O’Doherty won a unanimous judges verdict to be 2016 Essex Junior Aba Champion.
It was O’Doherty’s first county championship fight and saw him defeat Holland Park’s Jimmy Croxton over three rounds at Basildon.
O’Doherty will be competing in the Eastern Counties regional final this weekend.
Chelmsford club-mate Harvey Theedom boxed in his second no-decision skills bout at Basildon against Donny Davies from Canvey Island ABC.
The referee stopped the contest in the second round to stop Davies from further punishment after Theedom connected with a series of punches.
