GOING into the final Mid-Essex League cross country fixture at Little Baddow Springfield Striders men were in pole position and the ladies were second behind Grange Farm & Dunmow Runners.
And the positions remained the same with good performances from both squads.
Sarah Colbert won for the Striders and with Lauren Buck, Juliet Perry-Warren and Sharon Bannister posted a good score of 30, but good packing from the leaders maintained their position to claim the trophy.
The Striders men claimed the silverware with another dominant performance.
The seven scoring runners were all in the top 13. Sam Cornforth impressed in second spot and was backed up by Stuart Raven (4th), Scott Dryden (5th), Antony Goodall (7th), Steve Moore (8th), Chris Purse (11th) and Roger Gooding (13th).
The Striders’ ladies were in form at the Test Track Ten at Basildon with Sam Bilbie winning and Emily Smith runner up.
Marathon man Paul Bridges completed another two over the weekend, his 120th and 121st.
Gary Chandler ran an excellent 2.53 at the Seville Marathon. Steve Armitage clocked 4.17.04 at the Good, the Bad & the Ugly Marathon.
