CHELMSFORD Ladies first saw themselves return to their former glory at the third, and final, weekend of this season’s indoor campaign.

Victory in Bradford in the Division Two tournament saw Chelmsford promoted to Division One.

Chelmsford overturned a 3-1 first-half deficit to beat the Army 5-4 .

The Essex team lost a two-goal lead against Beeston but recovered to win 6-4.

The second day of competition started with a 4-3 win over Trojans.

Stourport were without a win but led Chelmsford 5-0 before the Essex team bagged two consolation strikes to set up a must-win game against Ipswich, and a 2-1 win secured promotion Steve Harrison (2) and Harry Rayner got the goals as Chelmsford men’s first team beat Cambridge University 3-2 in East Prem A.

And the first team defeated Havering 4-3 in a re-arranged league fixture with Vasan Veerapalan, Mike Millane Tom Christopher and Sam Rayner. The firsts travel to Cambridge City this weekend.

Chelmsford ladies’ third team drew 2-2 with Witham. Karen Cooper scored both goals.

Megan Lee and Izzy Lander were on target for the ladies’ fifth team as they avenged their defeat to Southend & Benfleet II earlier in the Essex division three season with a 2-1 win. The fifths face Old Loughtonians V on Saturday.

David Farmer, Scott Riley and Max Harder got the goals as Chelmsford men’s fifth team defeated Havering IV 3-1 in East 7SE.
