CHELMSFORD City will get a quick chance to avenge their 1-0 defeat to Dartford on Boxing Day when they take on the Darts on Saturday.

Andy Pugh’s goal condemned the Clarets to a home defeat in front of 810 fans at Melbourne Stadium last Saturday.

But City, who are 14th in the National League South table, will need to bring a halt to Dartford’s nine-game unbeaten run if they are to leave Princes Park with their first victory of 2016 under their belts.

Sixth-placed Darts warmed up for Saturday’s game with a 1-1 home draw with Margate on Monday.

Forty-eight hours earlier Pugh had netted on the hour mark to continue Dartford’s undefeated run continued.

Chelmsford started well against their high-flying visitors and a good defensive display ensured the score was level at half-time.

But Pugh netted from the edge of the box and City were unable to find an equaliser.

It left Clarets still looking for their first home win since mid-September. Mark Hawkes’ team found themselves a goal down again on Monday but were able to salvage a point away to third-from-bottom St Albans City.

Defender Eddie Oshodi scored his second goal of the festive season four minutes before half-time to give Saints the lead at Clarence Park following their 2-1 Boxing Day defeat at Bishop’s Stortford.

But Billy Bricknell equalised for Chelmsford in the 77th minute with his 11th goal of the season to secure the stalemate and ended Chelmsford’s run of four league defeats.

Bagasan Graham’s long throw was flicked on to the striker at the far post and he stabbed home with his left foot.
