LITTLE Waltham SC hit the top of the Ridley League with a 9-6 win at Chelmsford City FC which was less trouble than the scoreline might suggest.
The loss of their unbeaten singles and pairs record – despite the heroic efforts of Darren Kochan and Tony Bamsey – was more than compensated for by a strong show in the later games, and they had the match in the bag before the final dominoes was decided.
Results: Black Bull 6, Cricketers 9 (singles/pairs 4-3, mixed 0-1, women 0-1, dominoes 2-4); CCFC B 6, Lt Waltham SC 9 (4-3, 0-1, 0-1, 2-4); Compasses v Bird in Hand, no result; Dog & Partridge 8, CCFC A 7 (3-4, 1-0, 0-1, 4-2); Red Beret 5, Chequers A 10 (2-5, 0-1, 1-0, 2-4).
