THE world marathon record was broken on Sunday in Berlin and several Springfield Striders enjoyed the fast course.
Gary Chandler, running in his 37th marathon, clocked 2:49:54 and achieved his first ever negative split, running the second half quicker than the first.
Rob Mills knocked a huge chunk off his best time to finish in 2:55:43 and Darren Sutton also put in a fine show with 2:58:39.
Nikki Brockbank ran her second sub three-hour race of the year to cross the line in 2:59:26, while Jamie Woodyard (3:57:19) and Dan Hutchings (4:31:24) also enjoyed the atmosphere of this record breaking day.
Malcolm Savage continued his fine form with another V60 victory at the Saffron Striders 10km.
