HAYLEY Heggie and Rebecca Budd were on target for Chelmsford Hockey Club Ladies’ first XI as they beat Bedford first XI 2-0 in the Investec EHL Conference East.
Chelmsford delivered a controlled and confident performance in this high-paced home game to secure their first win of the season.
Heggie opened the scoring with a short corner following a foul on Budd.
Budd doubled the advantage eight minutes into the second half when her double take foxed the Bedford goalkeeper and Budd knocked the ball into the net.
*Chelmsford Hockey Club’s men’s first team smashed East Premier A new boys Felixstowe 5-1.
The Suffolk visitors took the lead with a deflected shot but Tom Woollatt equalised with a deflected effort to make it 1-1 at half-time.
Chelmsford were denied by good goalkeeping but Adam Hunter scored from close range after short corner to make it 2-1.
Harry Rayner made it 3-1 from a penalty flick before
Chelmsford took complete control and Rayner got his second from a short corner.
Rayner completed his hat-trick with a simple back-post tap-in to leave Chelmsford unbeaten ahead of their trip to Cambridge University this weekend.
