CLARETS: Ex-City striker set to face former employers

MARK Hawkes’ Chelmsford City side will have to put their personal differences aside when they face Dover Athletic on Saturday as a number of players from both sides are set to face their former clubs.
One of particular interest is Jeff Goulding who, since departing the Clarets by mutual consent earlier this month, has hit the ground running at Dover’s Crabble stadium.
The frontman has notched five goals in two games for Dover having previously netted on four occasions for the Clarets prior to him making the switch to Kent.
Mark Hawkes has encouraged the supporters to make the trip on Saturday and cannot wait to see the City faithful in full force at the weekend.
He said: “I would just like to say how much the players and management team appreciate the tremendous away support we have had for the past two away games and would encourage those same supporters to travel to Dover this Saturday. It would be great to hear those new songs sung!”
The Clarets, who currently sit joint third with Dover in the Skrill South form table, will be looking to overturn the defeat they picked up at home to Chris Kinnear’s men as a brace from Tom Murphy, an own goal by Jeff Goulding and a penalty from ex-Claret Michael Bakare slumped the 4-0 defeat on City.
This weekend’s visitors have experienced a drastic change in fortunes since that defeat however after experiencing one defeat in nine games under the stewardship of Mark Hawkes and will be looking to extend that further at Crabble this Saturday.
This match could mark a return for ex-Claret Ricky Modeste who has been nursing an injury, although the postponement of their Kent Senior Cup quarter-final match with Dartford, which was due to played on Tuesday 28th January, may mean that Modeste’s scheduled return is pushed back slightly.
Dover will be without striker Nathan Elder for Saturday’s match as he serves the second of a three-match ban.
