CHAMPIONS Broomfield King’s Arms were knocked off the top of the official Ridley League table this week – not by one of their title rivals, but by a missing result sheet.
With the paperwork from their match at bottom club Bird in Hand failing to arrive by the deadline, the champs are dumped (temporarily) into fourth place – and the Bird face the threat of a fine.
Little Waltham SC take over No.1 spot after an untroubled 11-4 win over Chelmsford City B, and Chequers A accounted for the Cricketers by the same score to grab second place. City A, who routed their own C team 12-3, are third, level on points with the King’s Arms.
RESULTS – Bird in Hand v King’s Arms, no result; Black Bull 9, Chequers B 6 (singles/pairs 4-3, mixed 1-0, women 0-1, dominoes 4-2); CCFC A 12, CCFC C 3 (6-1, 1-0, 1-0, 4-2); CCFC B 5, Lt Waltham SC 10 (2-5, 1-0, 0-1, 2-4); Chequers A 11, Cricketers 4 (5-2, 1-0, 1-0, 4-2).
