Clarets back in action after weekend off
1:50pm Friday 18th October 2013 in Local Sport
Dean Holdsworth’s Chelmsford City will be looking to build on the victory picked up against ten-men Bath City at the beginning of the month when Eastbourne Borough visit Melbourne on Saturday 19th October (3:00pm KO).
The Clarets had a rare fixture-free weekend last week due to various FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round ties taking place, which allowed the squad to home-in certain aspects of play on the training ground and rest ahead of this tough Skrill South encounter.
Eastbourne meanwhile were knocked out of the FA Cup at the hands of Ebbsfleet United on Saturday. A first half brace from Ben May ensured the Fleet edged through into the next round.
Tommy Widdrington’s men have been in fine form in the Skrill South thus far and have points on the board to back up their impressive performances on the pitch.
The Sports, who play at Priory Lane, are currently sixth in the league standings and were unbeaten in their first four league matches and since then have registered three defeats, one draw and two victories.
The Clarets will be welcoming a former player back to Melbourne Park on Saturday as Ollie Rowe returns with the Sports.
He re-signed for Eastbourne Borough in 2011 after a brief spell with City, and since then has been a main figurehead in the Sports’ defence.
Bertie Brayley is back with the Clarets after re-signing. He scores twice in Saturday’s 3-1 win over London APSA.
