Hayes and Yeading v Chelmsford City preview
12:13pm Friday 6th September 2013 in Local Sport
SATURDAY sees the fourth instalment of the Non-League Day initiative, originally set-up by James Doe in 2010.
Non-League and grassroots football is in the spotlight due to the international break.
As a result, there are no Premier League or Championship fixtures and as fans flock to see their non-league clubs in action, Dean Holdsworth’s Clarets make the trip to Surrey in a bid to bounce back from two consecutive defeats.
Hayes and Yeading, who are managed by ex-Liverpool and Coventry City defender Phil Babb, groundshare with Skrill Premier club Woking FC as they await the construction of their new ground.
Babb is also a capped international, appearing for his native Republic of Ireland in the 1994 World Cup.
United have begun the 2013/14 Skrill South campaign with six points from five games and currently sit in 12th position in the league standings.
Their two wins came against Boreham Wood and Dover Athletic but they lost out on the points against early pacesetters Bromley, while also succumbing to defeats at the expense of Maidenhead and Eastbourne Borough.
Dean Holdsworth’s City side, who have played one less game than Hayes, are currently 17th, picking up a win against Staines Town and a point at home to newly-promoted Concord Rangers.
The Clarets have also chalked up two loses against Tonbridge Angels and Weston-super-Mare respectively.
