Colchester boxer Lee Purdy opened the door to a potential shot at reclaiming the British welterweight title by beating Adnan Amar at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield.

Purdy beat his opponent from Nottingham when the referee stopped the fight in the fifth round to take the vacant English welterweight crown in front of a sell-out 10,000 crowd in Yorkshire.
