Colchester United thrashed Colwyn Bay 5-0 tonight to make it three wins out of three in pre-season.

The U's swept aside their Northern Premier League hosts in Wales to rack up another big win, in their preparations for the new League Two season.

Colchester have now scored 14 in their first three friendlies, something that will no doubt please head coach John McGreal after they fell short in front of goal last season.

The game also saw a welcome second-half appearance from Kane Vincent-Young, who the U's are hoping will put pen to paper on a new deal.

The U's took an early lead against Colwyn Bay through Mikael Mandron, who converted after combining well with Harry Pell.

And the visitors doubled their lead after 20 minutes when midfielder Tom Lapslie converted.

It was soon 3-0 to the League Two side thanks to Mandron's second of the night, after the Frenchman capitalised on a defensive error to net.

It helped Colchester go in at the break in command and they added to their advantage when summer signing Aaron Collins turned on the edge of the box and scored.

Frank Nouble wrapped up the U's comprehensive win just before full-time, as their productive pre-season programme continued.

Colchester will spend another day at the training camp at Carden Park in Cheshire, before returning to Essex for the club's Open Day, on Sunday.

Their next friendly is at National League side Dagenham and Redbridge, next Tuesday night.
