A HAT-TRICK of cup finals brought the curtain down on the Rollo Estates Colchester and East Essex League season.

It started with the final of the Lexden Memorial Cup between Stanway Athletic and Langham Lodgers at Brantham Leisure Centre.

The final saw Stanway Athletic lift yet more silverware to go with the division one runners-up trophy in this their first season in the league as they won the final 2-0.

A brace of goals from Ben Mann - one in each half - was the difference between the two sides.

After the match the trophies and mementos were presented to the teams and match officials by league sponsors Rollo Estates Property Agents.

The final of the Great Bromley Memorial Cup was then also played at Brantham Leisure Centre.

This was between St Osyth and Old Memorial Services in the first all-division one final for many years.

Both teams were also in their inaugural season in the league, with the silverware going this time to Old Memorial Services after a 2-1 victory over the division one champions.

St Osyth had taken the lead in the 25th minute when Ben O’Hara finished off a move with a shot into the right-hand corner.

The scoreline stayed that way into the break and for most of the second half, it looked as if it was going to be St Osyth victory.

However, while trying to clear, St Osyth goalkeeper Joel Deans hit the ball against the Old Memorial Services striker Ross Thorogood and could only watch as the ball rolled into his net for the equalising goal.

With both teams searching for the winner, extra-time was looming, but Martin Mina hit the winning goal for Old Memorial Services from the edge of the box.

Trophies and mementos were again presented by representatives from Rollo Estates Property Agents.

The last game of the season was for the Jenkins Shield, with the final taking place at Essex University between Tavern and Cavendish.

They were the same two teams who had contested the Charlie Pullen Memorial League Knock Out Cup final the week before when Cavendish had been victorious.

However, this time, Tavern were triumphant by a 3-0 margin.

They took a 2-0 half-time lead with goals from Ben Fowler and Reese Barnard and added a third through Thomas Osbourne on 60 minutes to wrap up the title.
