ESSEX University Boxing Club middleweight Vernon Henry overcame Attleborough’s Tom Collins to win a keenly-contested bout in Norfolk.
Henry earned a unanimous verdict at the Progress Boxing Club show in Diss, to make it three wins out of three.
Keen to get out boxing as much as he can, Henry connected with a straight right to the body with his first punch, quickly followed by a left and right cross. This set the pattern and when a big overhand right landed on Collins midway of the first round, the Attleborough boxer stayed on his back foot.
When he pressed forward, Vernon connected with strong right uppercuts that dominated the first round.
Collins had a better round trying to force the Essex University boxer onto the ropes but Henry moved out of danger quickly to impose himself once more.
The last round was a more even affair but it was Henry's movement and variety of punches that secured him the verdict.
Former Essex University member Adrian Martin is hoping to extend his undefeated record to 8-0 on Saturday night.
Martin, who was the club's first-ever BUCS champion, takes part in his eighth professional bout, at the prestigious York Hall.
He will compete in a six-rounder against former ABA champion Jordan Grannum from Islington, on Goodwin Boxing's 'The Showdown' event.
