STEVE Tree was a worthy winner of both the Monthly Stableford and the Millennium Trophy, contested by Stoke by Nayland Golf Club's Seniors section.

Tree scored an excellent 41 points at the stableford, held in conjunction with the trophy.

It was contested by the monthly stableford competition winners held over the last 12 months.

David Drew led division two with 39 points on the Gainsborough course, which was recently used to host the European Tour Qualifying competition and the LETAS Access Tour.

It was in excellent condition, although a fresh wind posed some problems for the players.

Results, division one: 1 Steven Tree 41 points, 2 Graham Vandervord 39 points, 3 Peter Jay 39 points.

Division two: 1st David Drew 39 points, 2nd Brian Castle 36 points, 3rd Gordon Bryan 35 points.

Roy Tricker Trophy (for the best six aggregate stableford scores): 1st Graham Vandervord 228 points ocb, 2nd Bob Filer 228 points, 3rd Steve Tree 227 points.

A total of 21 ladies played an 18-hole stableford competition on the Constable course.

The overall winner was Nora Hutchinson with 31 points.

Bronze division: 1 Nora Hutchinson 31pts, 2 Fiz Grundy 29pts, 3 Edel Rew 28pts.
