COLCHESTER Rovers riders produced some fast times as their midweek time trial series got underway.

In spite of a spate of roadworks and some inclement weather, riders impressed around the Layer and Little Bentley courses.

At Little Bentley, riders went all out to complete the ten-mile course in the quickest time.

There was a strong showing from the Rovers youth riders, with Oli Partner posting a very quick 27 minutes 22 seconds time.

The quickest rider on the night was Neil Hughes, the only competitor to break the 25-minute mark with an impressive 24m 34s.

That was nearly a minute up on Interbike's Doug Allen who clocked 25m 23s, in second.

AmisVelo's Keith Randle was third with 25m 43s, seven seconds ahead of Interbike's Jeff Wharton.

There were further great performances from Rovers youngsters Zoe Swainston, Dominic Hunt, Dan Hall and Tom Carson, who came agonisingly close to breaking the magic 30-minute mark after clocking 30m 6s.
