MICK Hersant triumphed in the Playgolf Colchester Pro-Am qualifying event after winning by three shots.

Using his low ball-flight game, he beat the high-winds, which made the going difficult for most, to secure victory.

Hersant (20) carded four pars as part of his nett 70 to win the competition and he now goes on to represent the club at a later Pro-Am event.

The competition saw a good-sized field turn out to compete in great course conditions.

The tricky greens, mixed with blustery wind made scoring tricky, as reflected in the final Competition Scratch Score of 71 (three over the SSS of 68).

Three players needed countback to separate them after the trio carded nett 73s.

Trevor Hollingsworth (19) with four pars took the runner-up spot from Steve Loran (ten), who carded seven pars.

Trevor Barnett (13) carded seven pars, five on his back nine and four straight to finish was fourth on countback, missing out on the prizes.

Bright sunshine welcomed a large field for the Playgolf Seniors four-ball better-ball stableford competition.

The pairing of Alan Barrett and Bruce Poole came out on top on countback with a steady 43 points to edge out Ken Ellsmore and Tony Millington.

Stan Knights and Paul Marsh took third place on countback from Will Elder and Greg King and Alan Burke and Geoff Backhouse, after all carded on 40 points.

The Playgolf Ladies took to the course in blustery conditions for the March stableford competition.

Ruth Amoss took top spot division one, carding an excellent 35 points, just one point ahead of nearest rival, Sally Pettitt on 34 points.

Ann Longman was third on 32 points.

Shirley Birkin won division two on countback from and Pauline Jordan after they both recorded 30 points.

Lady Captain, Maureen Dale was third, one point off the pace on 29 points.
