Colchester United's under-23 side continued their excellent start to 2017 with a 4-0 win over their Watford counterparts at Florence Park this afternoon.
Wayne Brown's side followed up their impressive 3-2 triumph over Ipswich Town last week with a victory over the Hornets, in Professional Development League Two.
Matt Briggs played 65 minutes for the U's, along with the likes of Kane Vincent Young, Macauley Bonne and Louis Dunne.
However, there was no appearance for Jermaine Grandison, as had previously been expected.
Colchester looked like they would head in at half-time level following a first half of few chances but they took the lead a minute before the break.
Tariq Issa fired them ahead with a smart close-range finish, after good work by Bonne and Charley Edge.
The U's pressed home their advantage further in the opening minutes of the second half when Bonne headed in at the near post from Vincent-Young's cross.
And it was quickly 3-0 when Edge fired home with an excellent finish, from the edge of the box.
Substitute Femi Akinwande wrapped up Colchester's victory with nine minutes remaining when he tapped home from inside the six-yard box.
Colchester United: Barnes, Vincent-Young, Peter, James, Briggs, Brown, Diaz Wright, Edge, Issa, Dunne, Bonne. Substitutes: JJ Wilson, Akinwande, Phillips, Carlton, Pollard.
