BRAINTREE TOWN were brought down to earth after a 1-0 defeat at home to promotion-chasing Tranmere Rovers, in the Vanarama National League.
Hakan Hayrettin’s side had won their last two matches and three of their previous four league and cup encounters, prior to Saturday.
However, Andy Cook’s winning goal in the 76th minute made it a long but happy journey home for the Merseysiders.
The damage might have been worse for Braintree had it not been for a first-half penalty save from keeper Sam Beasant.
The Iron return to National League action on Tuesday night when they welcome Bromley to Cressing Road.
