BOSS Hakan Hayrettin is under no illusions about the size of his task at BRAINTREEE TOWN.

But after a week of strikingly contrasting emotions, he says he will be giving his all in terms of trying to steer the Iron up the Vanarama National League table.

Braintree slumped to a 6-1 defeat at Dover Athletic last Saturday before responding in the best possible way, with a 3-2 victory at Woking on Tuesday.

It has left them fourth from bottom, heading into tomorrow's home game against Solihull Moors.

“Last weekend confirmed the enormity of the job but I knew that anyway," said Hayrettin.

“I’m still under no illusions as to how big the task is.

“I have to try and get the best out of the players I’ve got.

“There’s no hidden agenda here – we all know the rules and we have a job to do.

“It’s a challenge and in situations like this, most people don’t stick their head above the parapet but I won’t shy away from the responsibility, whether I get criticism or a pat on the back.

“The one thing I’ll be is upbeat and on the front foot and galvanizing the players to go out and get a result.

“We’re learning and we’ve got an opportunity to get out of this situation.

“I think we can and if we can strengthen in certain areas, we certainly will."

Meanwhile, Hayrettin has sung the praises of striker Lee Barnard.

The front man played his part in Tuesday's victory.

“I’m going to give Lee a lot of credit," said the Braintree boss.

“He hasn’t played much football recently, but I needed his experience and he did ever so well.

“He was treading water at the death but we’re going to need him.

“He’s been massive for us."
