FORRESTER Park Golf Club's ladies played their final Harris Bowl team competition and celebrated an excellent victory against Stoke by Nayland.

They won by three games to two.

The team have had a fine series of results in the Harris Bowl and Essex county bronze competitions, thanks to a sterling effort by the team and their caddies.

The ladies played their August medal, where the first division was won by Colette Kingswell, with nett 74.

Mel Kuhl finished in second place, with nett 77.

Diana Ketley won the second division with nett 73, with Dawn Marriot in second place with nett 81.

Susan Wilson won the third division with nett 79, with Josie Stevens in second place with nett 80.

The nine-hole competition was won by Kate Anstey, with Daphne Traveller on the same score but beaten on countback.

The veterans had their annual guest day, which was well supported with 80 members and guests.

The winners on the day were Chris Collins and his guest Bill Wodehouse, from Benton Hall, with 47 points, just edging out Jeff Atkinson and his guest on countback.

The men’s Sunday competition was for the Anniversary Plate, which was won by Ben Chesney, with 40 points.

Trevor Chaplin was second with 39, beating Owen Martin on countback.

The competition incorporated the Past Captains' Bowl, which was won by Roy Sayer, with 38 points, beating Denis Cornwell, the sponsor of the trophy, on countback.

The annual match for the Sadler Shield was won by the junior section, which left the ladies, men and vets' sections trailing in their wake.
