A LARGE field had qualifying in their sights as Playgolf Colchester held their penultimate Club Championship Medal qualifier.

Competitors were out to enter another card towards the qualifying total of three or better previous cards.

Cord Plasse (ten) topped division one with a gross 79 (nett 69) with a credible nine pars and back-to-back par four birdies on holes seven and eight.

Ever-present Mick Seaman (nine) was runner-up with a level par nett 70 consisting of highlights of ten pars.

Simon Longman (11) took third spot, beating a long list of rivals all with nett 71.

His countback win included four front nine pars, back-to-back birdies on the par three 16th and par four 17th.

A pair of back-nine pars also helped to tip the decision in his favour.

The players missing out were Adrian Binns, Alister Bailey, Darren Kerr and Ron Gilzean.

Matthew Clarke (19) won division two with a net 63 that included ten pars, earning him a cut to 17 next time out.

Improving Gary Mcllwaine (18) took second place on countback from in-form and fast improving junior member, Harry English (18).

Gareth Lee (23) won division three with his nett 65 from Stephen Marr (22), who carded a nett 67.

Miguel Ruiz (23) took third place from Michael Johnson (22), after both carded nett 75.

Playgolf Seniors were victorious over Millers Barn Seniors in their annual home and away friendly matches.

Playgolf won every match but Millers Barn gave a great account of themselves and were superb company.

A large field of Playgolf' seniors contested the annual Captain versus Vice Captain Trophy.

Teams were pre-selected by the captain and his vice-captain and arranged in order on the morning of the competition.

The format generated great fun and excitement when the two teams and playing order were revealed.

The competition was played over the Ryder Cup format of ten singles, four four-ball better-balls and two greensomes.

The result was in doubt until the last match, as the competition ebbed and flowed.

The outcome rested on the final doubles match and with the outcome was pre-destined as a draw, the match was halved with the final match drawn.

The prestigious Playgolf Ladies Rose Bowl attracted a large field.

There were some excellent stableford scores recorded, along with a tightly-contested competition.

A round consisting of eight net pars, a trio of nett birdies and a pair of nett eagles gave Ladies' Captain Gina Macmillan victory.

She won on countback from Catherine Le Tue, after both recorded 37 points.

Kyung Cho secured third place, two points off the pace on 35 points.
