GREAT Bentley Running Club's Sam Godden enjoyed success at the inaugural triathlon festival in Bury St Edmunds.

She was first lady and fifth overall in the sprint distance, completing her race in one hour, 14 minutes and nine seconds.

Anna Mills was first lady, and fifth overall, in the sprint + distance, finishing in 2h 37m 30s.

Meanwhile, seven Bentley members took part in the Harwich Triathlon.

Three of them were attempting their first triathlon.

Michael Simmons placed 25th in an extremely strong first attempt at the sport, clocking 1h 15m 15s overall.

Lorna Sharp finished 46th overall and was the fifth lady, completing her race in 1h 20m 55s.

Tricia Stacey, Luke Groves and Adrian Cherry ran a close race, with all three finishing within three minutes of each other.

Stacey completed her race in 1h 24m 2s, Groves finished in 1h 25m 48s and Cherry, who had been behind the other two by over four minutes at the end of the bike section, ran his fastest 5k of 2016, pulling 90 seconds back and finishing in 1h 26m 33s.

Alison Clarke, was also attempting her first triathlon, stopped the clock in 1h 40m 48s and placed 127th.

Linzi Iddon has been waiting to complete her first triathlon for a while, her training having been beset with both knee and back injuries.

However, this was finally the day and she completed her race in 2h 4m 56s.

There were three new personal bests from Bentley runners at the Midnight Sun Event.

Andy Stephens, Chusa Bautista Fructuoso and Lee Clarkson.

Both Stephen and Fructuoso opted for the Marathon distance at the Midnight Sun event in Tromsø, Norway.

Stephens competed his run in 3h 33m for 27th, a personal best time and 48th male finisher.

Fructuoso was the eighth female finisher and crossed the line in a personal best time of 3h 44m 17s.

Clarkson opted for the half-marathon distance and crossing the line in 1h 39m 36s.

Clarkson also achieved a personal best time.
