STEVE Ainley and Glen Saunders will represent Playgolf Colchester in the Moorfield Cup qualifier later this year after winning the club's stableford event.

The duo produced a superb round and finished top of the scoreboard on countback, after being one of two teams to finish on 43 points.

They edged out runners-up Miguel Ruiz and Ray Rowley, who also produced a great performance.

A large field took part in the qualifier in superb weather and course conditions, which helped to produce the big winning score.

Adrian Binns and Alex Crawford took third spot, with 42 points.

The Playgolf Seniors Bowmaker Trophy also produced some good scores, with Jeff Coles winning by a wide margin.

His gross 79, nett 61, was very impressive with his round earned him a three-shot handicap cut.

Jeremy Dalton carded a fine score of 67, to take second place ahead of Bruce Poole who was third with his nett 68.

The par-threes birdie two ball winners were Geoff Tredgett, Jeff Coles and Bruce Poole.

Ann Longman carded a superb nett 69 to earn a two-shot handicap cut and top spot in division one of Playgolf's Ladies Monthly Medal competition.

Her nearest rival, Kyung Cho, took second place with a nett 77 from in-form Carol Farrance, who was a further two shots adrift in third place.

Pauline Jordan won division two with a nett 77 ahead of Shirley Birkin, who was second on countback from Joka Fayers after both players carded nett 80.
