ERIK Trawny registered the highest score as Colchester Croquet Club's golf croquet section kicked off the summer season with their internal club progressive tournament.
A total of 32 players enjoyed the first tournament of the year, on a superb grass playing surface.
All playing members, along with playing partners, were confined to a 20-minute slot for each game.
The object was to run as many hoops as possible within the time allowed, with tactics taking a back seat for a change.
After five gruelling games, Trawny claimed the highest score of 25 hoops within the timespan.
Feering-based Trawny said: "I'm delighted by the way I played - I just hope I can continue the winning streak next month when I attend the next luncheon tournament."
Colchester Croquet Club hold an Open Day on Sunday June 5.
Members of the public can come along and try their hand at hitting a croquet ball with a mallet, helped along by club members.
Why not come along after 2pm and try your luck?
All equipment is supplied - all that is required is flat-soled shoes or trainers.
