Colchester United will reveal the identity of their new manager at a press conference tomorrow.

The U's will announce who Kevin Keen's successor will be at the Weston Homes Community Stadium at 2pm.

John McGreal remains the bookmakers' favourite to move up from his academy duties and take charge of the U's.

He is highly regarded by Cowling and has done an impressive job in charge of the under-21s this season, in Professional Development League Two.

But David Wright, who is currently in caretaker charge of the club, is also a firm candidate.

Speaking last Thursday, Wright said he intented to wait until the summer before contemplating whether or not to apply for the job full-time.

Wright said: “It’s a case of getting the next two games done and then speaking to (chairman) Robbie (Cowling) to see the direction he wants to go in and how I fit in.

“Then I’ll take stock in the summer and see what’s going to happen."

Colchester have moved quickly to appoint their new boss, following Keen's surprise departure last Tuesday.

The U's are preparing for life in League Two after their relegation was confirmed last month.

Colchester's new boss is likely to take charge of his first game when they host Rochdale in their final League One game on Sunday.
