Garry and Alan Kimble hope that they will have Danny Emmanuel back on board for Witham Town’s Ryman League division north trip to Thurrock today.

Having started the season at the Village Glass Stadium and then completed a move to division north rivals Maldon and Tiptree, Emmanuel has now re-signed for Witham.

It will be a boost for manager Garry Kimble and his team, however, the pacey winger returns with Witham looking over their shoulders once more at the relegation scrap going on just below them.

Any thoughts that they had turned a corner with Saturday’s win against fellow strugglers Waltham Abbey were refreshed by a chastening second half at another side pursuing the division north play-offs this year, Brightlingsea Regent.

Having looked comfortable in the opening 45 minutes, Witham were hit by a four-goal blitz after the break at North Road as they went down to a 4-0 defeat.

It was a chance missed to put daylight between themselves and the sides in the bottom three and means Town have lost nine of their last 11 outings in all competitions, so they are pleased to have a player of Emmanuel’s quality back on board.

Assistant manager Alan Kimble said: “Danny has re-signed for the club and he should be available for the weekend.

“He is all signed on and we’re looking forward to seeing him back in action.

“It’s a good move for us as it adds further quality to what we have, but we have to make sure that it all gels together properly.

“Everyone knows there has been a big turnaround of players at the club this year and it has led to a big transition period.

“It wasn’t that Garry wanted to get rid of players, it was them looking elsewhere, but sometimes you have to go through that.

“The grass isn’t always greener on the other side of the fence and we’re pleased to have Danny back.

“I think he will be settled as he was enjoying it at Witham before he left and he has always contributed.

“I know he’s someone who Garry has always rated very highly and he has the ability to play at a higher level, but it’s good that he has shown loyalty and come back to us.”

Emmanuel isn’t the only addition that the Witham management team have made as they continue searching for a winning formula, with former Southend United forward Kyle Asante joining last week and defender Damien Green has also come in from Chelmsford City.

Green has made three appearances for Chelmsford this year, including starting against Witham in the Clarets’ 3-1 Essex Senior Cup victory in December and Kimble feels he can be a useful addition to the Town squad.

The assistant boss added: “Damien has come to us on loan from Chelsmford, but if everything goes well then there may be the chance that we could get him permanently.

“He’s a versatile defender.

“His natural position is at right-back, but he can play anywhere across the back four so he gives us a few options.

“We feel like we have some real quality in the squad now, but we are looking to strengthen even further and are looking at bringing in another winger and a striker.”
