FRINTON Lawn Tennis Club have received two top awards from the Essex Lawn Tennis Association (ECLTA).

Both coach Alex Brown and county player Jon Oates were honoured at the association’s recent AGM.

Brown’s award, for player development, was received on his behalf by committee member Martin Clift, at the Essex tennis headquarters in Redbridge.

Frinton head coach Chris Harris said: “Alex’s enthusiasm and dedication to tennis is stronger than ever.”

Brown is a former winner of the Tendring Sports Coach of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Oates was presented with an achievement award for his outstanding contribution to tennis at county level, having been selected for the past two consecutive years.

Harry Brickwood, from the ECLTA, presented him with his award.

Oates started out as a county junior for Derbyshire and has been a long-standing player in Frinton’s men’s premier division team, in the Colchester and District League.

He also holds the role of captain for the veterans’ 50 team, who were runners-up in the County League.
