HARWICH Runners were among a field of almost 200 who took part in the annual five-mile race in Brantham.

And on an interesting course that has a long off-road section during the first half and some significant hills in the second, there was some success for the club.

Claudine Tisbury finished as third lady and 49th overall in a time of 34 minutes and 51 seconds.

Madeline Lewis celebrated after finishing fifth lady and 69th overall in 37m 4s, also walking away with the first lady veteran prize.

Robin Brookes led the black and white vests from start to finish, completing the course in 30m 49 seconds to take 13th place and finish fifth in his age group (MV40).

Two places and seven seconds behind was Simon Harrison, in 30m 56s, with Richard Flutter the next home, in 33m 34s.

Young Tom Stafford continued his promise with a competitive 34m 35s to take 43rd and regular Brantham racer Ian Cannons enjoyed his run in 35m 14s in 49th.

The Harwich contingent was completed by Sally Gillam, who finished 131st in 43m 3s, Michelle Greenfield, who was 149th in 47m 9s, and Louise Papworth, whose time of 50m 32s placed her 171st.
