CLACTON continued their Essex League campaign with a convincing 21-8 victory against Colchester.
Based on recent results, they were not expecting much of a challenge and treated it as a warm-up game for their Eastern League clash with Cambridge.
As in their last few matches, Clacton were slow to get going and Colchester matched them goal for goal until close to half-time, when a Neil Coles effort gave the visitors a slender 6-5 advantage.
However, the third and fourth quarters saw a different Clacton side.
They tightened up at the back and were more positive in attack.
Although Keith Gibson made a number of fine saves, Robert Eastman and Ian Westlake took control up front it became one-way traffic.
Clacton won the third quarter 9-1 and the fourth 6-3, to give a convincing 21-8 victory.
Team (goals in brackets): Keith Gibson, James Fry, Jeremy Cox, Dan Hunn (3), Mick Rodwell (2), Neil Coles (4), Ian Westlake (5), Robert Eastman (7).
