HOLLAND FC are preparing for their day of destiny.

The coastal club are set to find out today whether they have been successful in gaining promotion from the Essex and Suffolk Border League to the Thurlow Nunn League.

Their initial application was turned down, but they have appealed the decision and chairman Mark Sorrell now has a personal hearing with the FA at 11am.

It will take place at the governing body’s headquarters, at Wembley Stadium.

Holland’s initial application was rejected because they are proposing to ground-share next season.

They cannot play at Eastcliff, due to building work on the redundant Colchester Institute playing fields – part of their ground – off Gainsford Avenue.

A plan is therefore in place to play at FC Clacton’s Rush Green Bowl, with the coastal neighbours looking set to play on alternate Saturdays.

League rules state that clubs cannot ground-share but Sorrell said: “I’m quietly confident and believe we have a strong case."
