LITTLE Clacton Tennis Club have made a successful start to the new Colchester and District League campaign.

Their men’s team had a good win in division four, beating Dovercourt 8½-½.The pairings of Mark Appleton and Richard Cross, Tony Fulcher and Gerry Borley and Dave Plummer and Barry Partridge were unbeaten for Little Clacton.

In division five, the club’s ladies had an easy 9-0 win at Colchester Officers Club B.

Particularly pleasing was the debut of Kim Cade, who won her three matches, ably partnered by Tara Lee.

Judy Kent and June Radford and Kay Mansfield and Sarah Fulcher were also unbeaten.

In division five, Little Clacton beat Frinton D 7-2 in a mixed doubles match, largely thanks to unbeaten displays from Fulcher and Mansfield and Borley and Louise Thomas-Unger.

Sid Stinson, assisted by June Radford, stepped in at the last minute and had two tie breaks, winning one and losing one.
