Colchester United’s season reaches a critical stage tomorrow.

And U’s boss Tony Humes has vowed to stick by his squad and not make any “knee-jerk” changes for their vital home clash with Scunthorpe United.

Colchester will be aiming to bounce back from their 6-0 mauling at Chesterfield when they host the Iron in a pivotal game, at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Some U’s fans have called for the return of the likes of Sanchez Watt, Sean Clohessy and Ben Gordon, who have all fallen out of favour over the last few months.

But Humes has stressed there is no chance of them being recalled for the Scunthorpe game and is ready to keep faith in the players who have featured over recent weeks.

“The squad will be as it has been for the last few weeks,” said Humes, who has conceded that Watt has probably played his last game for Colchester.

“They are the group of players that we’re sticking by and there’s no reason to change that just because of one heavy defeat against a truly excellent side on the night.

“We have to believe in our players and chopping and changing at this stage doesn’t do any good for anybody."
