Witham Town manager Garry Kimble feels the two points that his team dropped last weekend have made tonight’s Ryman League premier division game against Peacehaven and Telscombe a “must-win” one.

With the team still sitting in the premier division drop zone and the battle to beat relegation being so tight, Witham were left kicking themselves as they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Bognor Regis Town on Saturday.

Had they held on to their lead, two extra points would have been a big boost and Kimble feels it has left them needing to win when Peacehaven make the trip to the Village Glass Stadium tonight.

“We were coasting at half-time against Bognor and it was so frustrating at the end,” he said.

“We had the wind with us in the first half and had played ever so well, but we let them back in as they scored from an own goal.

“It came off Lawrence Yiga’s head, but to be fair to him, if he hadn’t got a head to it, I think their forward would have tapped it in anyway, but we then allowed the second as we tried to play them off-side and they got in to make it level.

“It was hard to take as we had played so well.

“Something like that is so deflating as an extra two points would make a big difference to where we are.

“Now it means tonight’s game is a must-win one.”

Kimble is hoping that Peacehaven’s long journey up from the south coast will place the advantage with the hosts, but knows his players have to make the most of it.

He added: “I think it’s a six-pointer as Peacehaven aren’t that far above us.

“It’s a long way for them to have to come on a Tuesday night and we have to make sure we take the game to them.”

Kimble said Tom Wraight is likely to still be out with the groin problem that sidelined him on Saturday, but skipper Paul King will be available again after a one-match suspension kept him out against Bognor.
