Braintree Boxing Club continued to set the bar high this season with another excellent performance by Danny Mitchell at a show in South London.
The 18-year-old Braintree boxer won a unanimous decision against his more experienced opponent, Fillipe Oliviera, of St Andrews ABC.
In an exciting bout, Mitchell outworked his opponent from the start, attacking him with an assortment of combinations that had Oliviera struggling to cope in the opening round.
Mitchell continued with fast-paced aggression in the second round and was beginning to overwhelm his opponent, which led to Oliviera receiving a standing eight count due to the volume of punches that the Braintree boxer was landing.
Although Oliviera survived a torrid second round, he was again in trouble throughout the third round that saw Mitchell completely dominate.
Braintree coach Sean Magee said: “This was Mitchell’s first bout for Braintree Boxing Club and he can be extremely proud of his efforts.
“He no doubt has a promising future ahead of him.”
