Kaspars Gorkss has left Colchester United, according to reports in Greece.

The Latvia international, who has been at the U's on a short-term deal, has tonight been unveiled by Greek club Ergotelis as their new signing on an 18-month contract.

Gorkss is pictured on the Ergotelis official website, sporting the club's shirt.

And although Colchester are yet to confirm Gorkss' exit, it appears the centre-back may well have played his final game for the League One club.

When asked about Gorkss' future at his pre-match press conference this afternoon, U's boss Tony Humes said he had no heard of no firm interest in the defender.

Humes said: “There’s always that possibility (that Gorkss could leave) but we don’t want to lose any players at this stage.

“The plan all along with Kaspars is that he stays with us until the end of the season.

“But we’ve always left it open so if that possibilty comes for him to move, we’ll stick to our word and allow him to do that."

Ergotelis play in the Greek Superleague and are based in a city called Heraklion, on the island of Crete.

Gorkss has made a big impact at Colchester since signing for them on a short-term contract, last month.

The 33-year-old has played nine times for the U's and capped a man-of-the-match display with a fine headed goal in their 2-0 win over Leyton Orient, last weekend.

Colchester have recently brought in Alex Wynter on a permanent signing from Crystal Palace and Matt Briggs on loan from Millwall and both can both play at centre-back.
