HARWICH Runners held their annual prize presentation evening.

Among the award winners were most improved runner Matt Doran, who was victorious in the club’s five-mile winter handicap race and came second in division three of the championship challenge.

The summer handicap race was won by Louise Papworth, followed by Sabine Klapper and Miranda Rayner.

In the winter race, Doran was followed by Tanya Ferguson and Carla Holroyd in second and third places.

Stephen Burbidge was voted club person of the year and also the most improved male cross-country runner.

Race performance of the year went to Elspeth Knott, for finishing eighth out of 867 runners in the Round Norfolk relay and the championship challenge overall winner was Mark Rutter.

Division winners were Phil Sanderson (division one), Madeline Lewis (division two), Jo Higgon (division three) and Victoria McCrea (division four).

Rob Reason and Claudine Tisbury received certificates for new club records set during 2014.

Like all sporting clubs, Harwich Runners could not survive without hard-working volunteers.

Di Warner and Jim Reed were awarded honorary life membership in appreciation of all their past contribution.
