BRIGHTLINGSEA REGENT boss James Webster hopes his side’s dramatic FA Cup victory at Royston will spark an improved run of Ryman League form.

Regent have had a tough start to life in division one north, winning only one of their opening six fixtures.

However, Saturday’s 3-2 FA Cup preliminary round success at Royston lifted spirits, with Ben Newson grabbing their winner in the 90th minute.

And Webster is hoping the victory will give his players a much-needed boost heading into tonight’s league match at home to Romford.

“Romford are a big, strong side with lots of pace,” said the Regent boss.

“We had them watched at the weekend and we know it’s going to be another tough game.

“But we need to start believing in ourselves and I’m hoping Saturday’s result against a top side like Royston will instil that belief.”

Elsewhere tonight, MALDON & TIPTREE face a trip to Cray Wanderers.

HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS had been due to host Dereham Town, but that match has now been postponed because the Norfolk side have an FA Cup replay against St Ives Town.
