Sean Clohessy insists it is still too early to panic over Colchester United’s winless start to the season.

But the U’s attacking right-back admits they need to chalk up their first victory sooner, rather than later.

Colchester have failed to win any of their opening five league and cup matches and have taken one point from a possible 12, in League One.

And while he stressed it is too soon to worry about the U’s lowly position in League One, Clohessy admits they must start turning their potential into points.

Clohessy said: “You don’t want to be going ten, 11 or 12 games without winning and having people asking when the first win is going to happen.

“We need to get it as soon as possible.

“It’s still really early in the season and there are still 40-odd games to play.

“But you don’t want a gap building between you and the next team above you.

“We need to get that first win, because it becomes a bit of an omen otherwise.

“We know that we need to start picking up some wins quite quickly.

“It’s never easy to pick yourselves up after a defeat.

“But we have a full week of training now and that will help us go into the Peterborough game with a solid game plan.

“That win will come – there’s no-one panicking and it’s still very early.”

Wish they would panic more then perhaps we'd get better results.

Of course they should not panic. They just need to get their fingers out.

Panic won't help so I tend to agree with his comments. This time last year we had 8pts from 4 games and no one was claiming promotion as a likelihood so there's no logic panicing when the opposite form is true.

Cutting out the mistakes and being a little more quick fire in front of goal (combination of both of these issues caused the goal at the weekend) and I see no reason for why it can't change.

One thing is for sure - the negativity mean spirited booing of substitutions will not help. It killed any sense of spirit at the weekend.
