Greene King Essex Veterans League round-up


Premier Division Writtle wound up their treble trophy winning season with a 4-0 win over Beacon Hill Rovers who escaped relegation by goal difference. Two goals by French enabled Dunmow to conclude their season drawing 2-2 with Old Parmiterians.

Division One Great Berry Rangers looked likely to go the season unbeaten but perhaps they took their foot off the pedal a little early as they entertained Frenford Senior who went away with a narrow 2-1 win, Wright netting for Great Berry Rangers. Brown hit two goals, LePage one for Rochford Town as they drew 3-3 with Herongate Athletic Reserves who are still in need of points, Brown, Carey and Simpkins earned them this one. Springfield hit bottom boys Britannia for six, Williams netting the lone goal in the 6-1 defeat for Britannia.

PLA completed their promotion winning season by defeating relegated Ludlows 4-2.

Division Two East With a 4-0 win at Silver End United, the goals by Warner, Rich, Hall and Bromage,his first of the season, meant Vichouse Sports increased their goal difference to twice that of their nearest rivals. The firm of Bond, Bond and Sonnex hit the goals that earned Galleywood a point at home to Essex Police, two goals by Corlett and one from Henderson made it 3-3.

Wickford Town needed a point at least to ease out of an automatic relegation place but visitors Leigh Ramblers were not in a benevolent mood and would only allow a single goal by Knight as they hit three themselves to take all the points in the 3-1 result.
