Pope and Smith Sunday Football League

League Premier Division Daen Ingas v Writtle Although Writtle had a great chance to top the league, their games in hand still had to be converted into points.

Having lost out to the home side in the divisional cup earlier this season, the visitors were hoping for revenge.

The game started well for Writtle, and it seemed as though Ingas were under constant pressure.

Wave after wave of attacks were having to be repelled by the home defence, and eventually Writtle went ahead thanks to master striker, Ben Polley.

There really didn’t seem as though there was going to be any respite for the Ingas defence, but for a split second, the Writtle mid field lost concentration, and with virtually their only meaningful attack, the home team found the space to force an equalizer. Writtle can still have the pleasure of claiming the league title though.

Division One Brookhouse v Woodham Athletic The visitors proved to be far too much for the home side to handle.

Following their cup success last week, Athletic were keen to put up a good show, and their forwards were in fine form.

The pressure was constant on the Brookhouse defence, and the 7 – 0 final scoreline underlines the dominance that the visitors had during the game.

Old Chelmsfordians v Gallow United This encounter was played as a double header, in order to accommodate the fixture backlog.

OCs only needed to grab one win to claim the divisional title, but Gallow were always going to make this a difficult ask.

The first game was played at a good pace, but Ben Sanders grabbed the lead for Old Chelmsfordians, before the ever reliable Michael Karabardak struck to level the scores.

OCs kept battling to gain the required points, and a well placed shot by Warren Brayne proved to be enough to snatch the points.

The second game saw Gallow start the better, and they gained a well deserved lead when Michael Karabardak once again outfoxed his marker.

OCs have to be congratulated for their industry, as they refused to give up, and they eventually drew level from a Dan Fisher strike.

They proved their resilience, when they went on to claim the second set of points with a beautifully crafted goal by Steve Cook.
