THE Chelmsford Bowling Club staged its 29th Annual Men's Fours Open Tournament sponsored by D J Knight Ltd and organised by Mike Eldridge on Sunday with 22 teams from Essex, Kent and Middlesex taking part.
In a very keenly contested tournament with each team playing four matches throughout the whole day the Century Bowling Club from Wembley, Middlesex came out on top in the final analysis, beating Burnham Hillside BC, Essex into second place with a better shot average being tied on 62 points.
Century's team of Glen Adam at lead, Chris Daykin, Steve Burrell and skip Tony Pope won all of their games to take the King Cup and top prize of £200. Burnham Hillside had Kevin Olley skipping their rink and they also recorded four excellent wins but were slightly lacking on shot average to take the second spot and winning £100.
