Colchester at Melbourne tonight

6:48pm Wednesday 23rd July 2008

Coca-Cola League One neighbours Colchester United are the latest Football League side to drop by at Melbourne for a pre-season warm-up game, providing City with strong opposition as part of their preparations for Blue Square South football.

The respective friendly game here last season ended goalless on Wednesday July 25 2007, as the Clarets held United to a 0-0 draw after absorbing possession and hitting them on the counter-attack.

United were at full-strength for the last half an hour and enjoyed lengthy spells with the ball but they were unable to turn this advantage into goals and Chelmsford came out of the match with a creditable stalemate in front of 1,378 spectators.

This time around, adults can gain terrace access for the reduced cost of £7, with concessions gaining admission for £2.

All home 2008/09 friendlies will benefit from "Kids for a Quid" status, meaning under sixteens accompanied by adults get in for just one pound. The usual upgrade to Main Stand seating can be added for an extra pound.

The kick-off is at 7.45pm.
