Chelmsford City have retained the services of defender Jazzi Barnum-Bobb ahead of the new season.

City boss Rod Stringer has continued his preparations for another push for promotion from the National League South by agreeing terms with the flying wing back.

Having been released by Newport County, the 22-year-old joined City in early March and the former Watford trainee quickly settled into life amidst the Clarets’ push for promotion.

Making 11 appearances for City, Barnum-Bobb became a fan-favourite with his trademark attacking exploits from the wing-back position and attracted interest from other non-league clubs.

The Clarets have also made a number of changes to this season’s pre-season campaign.

In addition to home friendlies against Cambridge United, Dover Athletic and an Ipswich Town XI, League Two side Northampton Town will visit the Melbourne Community Stadium.

Managed by former St Albans City, Southend United and Tottenham Hotspur defender Dean Austin, Northampton will bring a competitive side to the Melbourne Community Stadium on Wednesday, July 11 with kick-off at 7.45pm.

The Clarets’ trip to Maldon & Tiptree on Tuesday, July 10 has been rearranged for Saturday, July 21.

>The club are also looking to add to the back-room staff ahead of the new season and recruit a new kit man.

The ideal candidate will need to be organised and dedicated and the successful applicant will have previous experience in a kit manager role at non-league step four or above.
